Passive defense system

Product description

The Passive Defense System is designed to protect a naval vessel against threats employing both passive and active detection and guidance methods. Its primary purpose is to reduce the platform’s detectability and decrease the effectiveness of hostile weapons, in particular underwater weapons equipped with non-contact fuzes and missile systems guided by the vessel’s physical signatures. The system continuously monitors selected physical fields generated by the vessel and supports their minimization through cooperation with onboard signature reduction systems. This enables the reduction of magnetic, electric, thermal, and vibration signatures that may serve as sources of detection or activation of adversary weapons.

Data acquired by the system is processed and presented on dedicated operator consoles in the form of clear visualizations, enabling continuous assessment of the vessel’s passive protection status. The system supports the crew in conducting maritime operations safely under diverse operational conditions, increasing platform survivability and mission effectiveness.

Passive defense subsystems

Demagnetization
Demagnetization

Protects the vessel against naval mines by reducing its magnetic field using dedicated coils. The system automatically adjusts its operation based on the vessel’s position and heading, with the option of manual control by the operator.

Electric field monitoring
Electric field monitoring

Reduces the vessel’s electric signature by generating a dedicated electric field that lowers the inherent field of the platform to a safe level. As a result, the vessel becomes less detectable by systems capable of monitoring its signature.

Cathodic protection system
Cathodic protection

Protects submerged metal components against corrosion by applying a controlled electric current. The system automatically regulates the current to prevent corrosion, can also be manually controlled, and integrates with other onboard systems.

Temperature monitoring
Temperature monitoring

Monitors the thermal signature of the vessel’s hull using a distributed network of temperature sensors installed on the platform’s structure.
